Ecuador is the first and only country in the world to incorporate the rights of nature in its Magna Carta in 2008, this constitution has its foundations based on fundamental concepts of “Sumak Kawsay” which means “fullness of life” is an ancestral Andean conception that It refers to a dignified life in harmony and balance with the universe. In the seventh chapter, the recognition of Nature as a subject of rights is revealed and, in turn, the Ecuadorian State acquires the commitment to encourage citizens to promote the protection of Nature and respect for the elements that make up the natural ecosystems of the different media and environments.
